Cambodia Gambling Dens
May 4th, 2026 by Jordan

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are established in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat casino, features 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that features many conveniences in addition to the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
