There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gambling is illegal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime destination, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling hall, contains one hundred and fifty slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that highlights numerous amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
